The Ducal Palace has joined the Pesaro Musei network with opening to the public from June 12, 2021. The city’s most important Renaissance building can now be visited by participating in guided visits.
Tours are planned on Saturdays at 10 a.m. (duration 1.5 hours), Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. with a 45-minutes visit (from June to September second round at 4:45 p.m.), always with prior reservation within the day before. On these three days of the week, residents and tourists can access the visits free of charge by purchasing the Combined Ticket Pesaro Musei. A new and extraordinary opportunity to enjoy cultural venues that makes the city’s museum circuit even richer and more complete.
The expert tour guides, qualified with a regional patent, will accompany visitors to discover the Ducal Palace linked to the seignories of Pesaro from the 13th to the 17th century; residence, first of the Malatesta and Sforza families – the façade is due to Alessandro Sforza in the 15th century – then of the Della Rovere family, dukes of Urbino and Pesaro between about 1523 and 1621, who were responsible for the renovation and expansion of the building to its current size. Visitors will be able to admire the dukes’ apartments, the Salone Metaurense, the Reception Halls furnished with valuable period furniture provided by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Pesaro, and of course the courtyards: the Courtyard of Honor, the Hunting Courtyard, the Secret Garden and the Genga’s Loggia (the 45-minute short visit includes the Courtyard of Honor, the Hunting Courtyard, the Salone Metaurense, the Secret Garden and the Loggia).
The Ducal Palace is accessible thanks to an agreement signed on May 18th by the Prefecture of Pesaro and Urbino, the State Property Agency, the Archaeological Superintendence, Belle Arti e Paesaggio delle Marche-Ancona, and the Municipality of Pesaro, with the aim of giving value to the monument for cultural and tourism purposes.
